The Telecommunication Technology Committee (TTC) was invited to join in as an exhibitor during the ITU Telecom World 2016 to introduce the new “Handbook for ICT Projects for Rural Areas”. The event was held at the Impact Arena Muang Thong Thani, Bangkok.
This handbook is the collaborative effort of the different SHARE member countries, namely Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Japan and the Philippines, to provide the researching community with a guidebook on initiating ICT projects in rural areas. The handbook was developed based on the experience gained by the SHARE members when implementing ICT projects in areas of education, agriculture, aquaculture, health and the environment management in Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam and Indonesia.
A team of UNIMAS members went to Tanah Datar, West Sumatera, Indonesia from 21-24 September 2014 to conduct the first round of the ICT training (e-Education component) as well as to have a meeting with the representatives from STMIK Padang.
The launching for the Tanah Datar ICT (T3) Training Center was held on 23 August 2014. A team from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) was asked by the Telecommunication Technology Committee (TTC) to go to Tanah Datar on 20 August 2014 to assist with the setting up of the computers in the training lab. The UNIMAS team members included Adam Francis and Jaya Laxshmi.
Three members of the SHARE project from UNIMAS, Dr. Fitri Suraya Mohamad, Gary Loh Chee Wyai and Adam Francis made a trip to Manila, Philippines from 19-21 June to meet with representatives from Ateneo University. The purpose of the trip was to discuss the Near Cloud technology and to observe the viability of using the technology for the roll out of the planned ICT training at Tanah Datar, West Sumatera, Indonesia.
A team of UNIMAS members went to Tanah Datar, West Sumatera, Indonesia from 21-23 December 2014 to conduct the final workshop for the ICT training (e-Education component). The UNIMAS team members included Associate Prof. Dr Fitri Suraya Mohamad, Prof. Dr Alvin Yeo Wee, Syaryfah Fazidawaty binti Wan Busrah, Adam Francis and Jaya Laxshmi.
A meeting was arranged between representatives from Tanah Datar and a team from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) to discuss the upcoming SHARE ICT Training project and TNA for the participants at Tanah Datar. The UNIMAS team members included Ida Juliana Hutasuhut, Azwan Abidin, Adam Francis, Siti Marina Kamil and Jaya Laxshmi.
Development of ICT (Information Communication Technology) in Tanah Datar regency will be further enhanced by the cooperation with TTC (The Telecommunication Technology Committee) of Japan. It is characterized by a discussion between Tanah Datar Regent M.Shadiq Pasadigoe and Dr. Hideyuki Iwata (Director Promotion TTC), on Thursday, June14, 2012.
