Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), Malaysia's eighth university was officially incorporated on 24 December 1992. Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) is situated at the heart of Borneo. The campus is 40-minute's drive from the City of Kuching, the capital and the most populous city in the state of Sarawak in Malaysia.
Institute of Social Informatics and Technological Innovations (ISITI), formerly known as the Centre of Excellence for Rural Informatics (CoERI) was established in April 2011 at the centre of University Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) in Kota Samarahan. The Centre was established given the success of its flagship bridging-the-digital-divide pilot project, eBario. A key focus of ISITI is to bridge the technology-people’s gap; in particular, encompassing technological innovations for indigenous communities.
